Faith, Power, and the Word Within: How Belief Releases God’s Power
“There is power in my mouth, the belief in my heart is released by faith out of my mouth” — TB Joshua
📖 Key Scriptures
Romans 3:22 – “We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes.”
Romans 10:17 – “Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
Mark 11:22 – “Have faith in God.”
Mark 9:23 – “Everything is possible for the one who believes.
📖 Our Heart: The Place Where Faith Begins
When we speak of the heart, we are not referring to the physical organ that pumps blood, not emotion and not intellect. We are speaking of the spirit of man—the core of our spiritual being.
It is the place where God’s Word lands.
It is the innermost part where revelation is received.
It is the communication point of the Holy Spirit.
“There is power in my mouth (confession), the belief in my spirit (heart) is released by faith out of my mouth.” - Prophet TB Joshua
This is the divine order:
The Word is planted. Belief is conceived. Faith is birthed. Power is released.
“The Word of God must not only be on your lips, but rooted deep in your spirit.” — Prophet TB Joshua
When the Word dwells richly in your heart, belief is born. But belief alone is not power. Faith must mix with your belief (Word) to release divine power into your life.
“The spirit of man is the lamp of the Lord, searching all his inmost parts.” — Proverbs 20:27
This is where everything begins.
🧠 Belief vs Faith: A Divine Partnership
Belief originates from man’s spirit and it comes by hearing the Word of God (Romans 10:17). When we meditate deeply on God’s Word—not just reading, but absorbing, it begins to reshape our thoughts, influence our conduct and dominate our character.
Belief always happens in the heart. It is an opinion formed within your heart Belief is underground. It is the root. It is invisible. It is what we call “Inner reality”. I believe Jesus Christ is LORD, If I don’t manifest it on the outside, nobody will know.
Ephesians 4:23— “Let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes”.
“Faith comes when the Word prevails over or dominates the thinking process.” — TB Joshua
Belief | Faith |
---|---|
My response to God’s Word in my spirit | A supernatural force given by God’s Spirit to activate belief |
Conviction (firm heart decision) | Demonstration (belief demands action on the outside) |
Lifeless without faith | Puts belief into action |
Can see a fruit and never take it | Reaches out and takes it |
Abstract (invisible) | Practical (Outward expression of belief) |
Belief and Faith is the difference between the hearer of the Word— who is merely convinced and the DOER of the Word— who acts faith. It is when we act on the Word by obeying it, that the Holy Spirit will come to the scene
As Prophet TB Joshua taught:
“Faith does not originate from man, it originates from God.”
Faith is not born of emotion or reasoning—it’s a spiritual product, the result of God’s Spirit activating the belief rooted in your heart. Faith is not a feeling and cannot be imitated.
Faith is greater than belief because without faith, belief is dormant. It is faith that puts belief into action. Faith without works (action) is dead.
🧠 Practical examples of Belief and Faith
- You read in the Bible that God is your healer (Exodus 15:26 - “I am the LORD that healeth thee”). You believe it in your heart, but when sickness comes, you sense a supernatural confidence and peace deep inside you (that you cannot explain) to pray and act on that Word—this is faith from the Spirit, which originates from God.
- Peter saw Jesus walking on water. He believed (in his heart) Jesus’ word, “Come,” (Faith to activate the belief in Peter’s heart) and stepped out of the boat (Faith requires action/movement). His action wasn’t just belief, but faith empowered by the Spirit.
Let’s break it down:
Peter said, “LORD, if it is really You, tell me to come to You, walking on the water”—with this statement Peter expressed the belief in his heart.
Jesus said, “Yes, Come”—Jesus brought the necessary faith to activate the belief in Peter’s heart.
Peter completed the faith cycle by stepping out of the boat into the water—Faith requires action/movement.
The Word (belief in the heart) must mix with the Spirit (Holy Spirit illuminates the Word in our spirit) to release God’s power.
- Abraham believed God’s promise for a son, but it was when God’s Spirit quickened that promise in his heart that he acted in faith, even when circumstances looked impossible.
Let’s see this with Abraham:
God gave Abraham a promise: “You will have a son”—Abraham received and believed this Word in his heart.
The Holy Spirit strengthened Abraham’s faith—Romans 4:20-21 says Abraham “did not waver through unbelief… but was strengthened in his faith, giving glory to God.”
Abraham acted on that faith—He continued to trust and obey God, even when it seemed impossible, and eventually saw the promise fulfilled.
Again, belief (the Word) in the heart, mixed with faith (from the Spirit), leads to action and releases God’s power.
The Bible says:
“We are made righteous through faith in Christ.” — Romans 3:22
Believing in Jesus makes you right with God, but faith is the heavenly currency that gives you access to heaven’s resources.
🧾 How Faith Is Formed and Released
Prophet TB Joshua taught that “If you take God’s Word to heart and truly make it a part of you by meditation, it will by its very nature change you by renewing your mind— and when it does, you’ll find yourself moved to act with God.
Divine Faith is force that has God’s backing behind it for its fulfillment - TB Joshua
Here’s the divine progression:
- Believe is formed by Hearing the Word of God. This belief pleases God and makes us righteous (Romans 3:22).
- Confession— Act on Your belief by living in the Word and doing the Word.
- Receive Faith from the Holy Spirit — As you meditate on the Word daily. Belief is activated by the HolySpirit who gives supernatural faith which brings God’s power to the scene..
“There is power in my mouth (confession); the belief in my spirit (heart) is released by faith out of my mouth.”
While belief is formed in your heart through the Word, faith is given by the Holy Spirit. That’s why you must constantly invite the Spirit of God to mix with the Word you carry in your spirit through constant meditation in the Word.
The Word of God dominating your heart is the Lordship of Christ in You - TB Joshua
Miracles happen when Word and the Holy Spirit meet.
⚡ When Word + Spirit Combine = Power
When belief (Word) in your heart meets faith (Spirit) from God, power is released.
This power is not limited to preaching or miracles. It empowers you to:
Overcome temptation
Access healing
Receive deliverance
Walk in blessing
Operate in spiritual gifts like prophecy
Prophet TB Joshua taught that:
To the degree we reverence God’s Word in our heart, to that same degree will the Spirit be released.”
In other words:
The level of power you walk in depends on the degree to which your belief and faith are working together.
Again,
“What is possible for you in Christ Jesus depends on your capacity to believe.”
— Prophet TB Joshua
🔁 The Cycle of Growth in Belief and Faith
Just as belief increases with more intake of the Word, faith increases as the Lordship of Christ grows in your heart.
“Your capacity to believe can either increase or decrease depending on how much you feed your soul with the Word of God.” — TB Joshua
More Word = More Belief (Faith comes by hearing the Word. Belief is 1st stage of Faith)
More Reverence = More Spirit of God (More Lordship of Christ in You)
More Spirit = More Faith (More Heavenly Currency, Bigger Bank Account in Heaven)
More Faith = More Power (Power to purchase heavenly resources)
This is how you gain access to God’s healing, provision, direction, and miracles.
“The more I believe, the more faith I have to purchase heavenly resources.”
— TB Joshua
🛑 Why Many Confessions Fail
People may say, “I am healed in Jesus name,” yet do not see result. This is becauset their hearts are empty. There is nothing for the Spirit to act on.
🛠️ Power = Word + Spirit
Without the Word—no belief.
Without belief—no faith.
Without faith—no power.
Spiritual power is not magic. It’s the result of the Word in your heart + faith from the Spirit.
“What is possible for you in Christ Jesus depends on your capacity to believe.” — Prophet TB Joshua
Think of it like this:
- Word in heart = Fuel
- Holy Spirit’s faith = Fire or Light to Illumine the Word
- Result = Power — healing, deliverance, direction
🌍 Faith Is the Currency of Heaven
Just as currency buys goods on earth, faith is the currency of Heaven.
It grants access to healing, direction, breakthrough, revelation.
“If I believe more, then I can demand more faith from the Holy Spirit who gives it. When I have more faith, I can purchase more heavenly resources.” - TB Joshua
🔚 Final Encouragement: Grow in the Word and Spirit
“I believed, therefore I spoke.” — 2 Corinthians 4:13
Belief alone is not enough.
Faith alone is not enough.
But when the Word in your heart meets the Spirit from above—power is born.
Don’t just quote Scripture—carry it in your heart. Don’t just carry Scripture—meditate until it dominates your conduct and character.
Soon you will begin to receive divine revelation to act with God, walk with him and work on His projects.
Then divine faith will be released when you speak or act under His full authority as a believer.
