Lesser-Known Commandments from the Almighty God
Lesser-Known Commandments from the Almighty God
Exodus 23:1-9, Matthew 5:44, Proverbs 18:21
1️⃣ You Must Not Follow the Crowd in Doing Wrong (Exodus 23:2)
👉 In today’s society, people often say, “If you can’t beat them, join them.”
This is a direct rebellion against God’s command. Following the majority often leads to compromising one’s values and faith.
Remember, the majority is not always right; truth is not a matter of numbers. God calls us to stand firm in His Word, even if it means standing alone. others doing them, without considering whether it aligns with God’s Word or will.
2️⃣ Do Not Cooperate with Evil People by Lying on the Witness Stand (Exodus 23:1)
👉 Today, there are “professional liars” who testify falsely in court for money, condemning the innocent to prison.
- False testimony destroys lives and is an abomination to God.
📖 Proverbs 6:16–19 lists lying and bearing false witness among the things God hates.
3️⃣ Do Not Deny Justice to the Poor in a Lawsuit (Exodus 23:6)
fNowadays, the powerful in society boldly say, “Go to court,” because they know justice is often compromised.
- God commands us to defend the rights of the poor and vulnerable, ensuring fairness for all, regardless of their social or financial standing.
📖 Proverbs 31:8–9: “Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves; ensure justice for those being crushed.”
4️⃣ Take No Bribes (Exodus 23:8)
👉 A bribe blinds even the wise and twists the truth.
Today, many in positions of authority—including leaders in religious, political, and judicial systems—turn a blind eye to wrongdoing because they directly or indirectly benefit from bribes.
Bribery distorts justice, destroys integrity, and offends God.
5️⃣ Help Your Enemy in Need (Exodus 23:5)
👉 If you see the donkey of someone who hates you struggling under its load, you are commanded to stop and help.
Today, many pray for their enemies to “die by fire,” even in religious worship centers. But Jesus said, “Love your enemies, and pray for those who persecute you” (Matthew 5:44).
Helping an enemy reflects God’s love and shows that we are children of our Father in Heaven.
6️⃣ Do Not Pass Along False Rumors (Exodus 23:1)
👉 Today, people spread false news without investigation. Rumors have become “truth” in the eyes of many.
- Spreading false information can ruin reputations, destroy relationships, and lead others into sin.
📖 Proverbs 18:21: “The tongue has the power of life and death.”
Are You Still Doing These Things? REPENT BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE.
These commandments are still as relevant today as they were when God gave them to Moses. Society may have normalized these sins, but as Christians, we are called to live by a higher standard.
Prayer
🙏 Lord Jesus, help me to obey Your commands and live according to Your Word. Give me the grace to stand for righteousness, to love my enemies, and to walk in truth and integrity. Forgive me for the times I have followed the crowd, spread rumors, or acted unjustly. Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Amen!
