Privacy Policy

How Generation of Spiritual Worshippers (GOSW) handles information when you subscribe, comment, or react on our website.

Effective date: 13 September 2026

Generation of Spiritual Worshippers (“GOSW”, “we”, “us”, “our”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect when you subscribe to our newsletter, comment, react, or use our website, why we collect it, and the rights you have over it.

We keep this simple on purpose: GOSW is a faith platform, not a business that trades in data. We use information to stay in touch, support conversations, and protect the site from spam and abuse. Some technical information is processed automatically when you use these features.

Who we are (data controller)

GOSW is the data controller responsible for the information described here. If you have any question about this policy or your data, contact us at spiritworshipgen@gmail.com.

What information we collect

When you fill in our newsletter subscription form, you provide:

  • First name and last name
  • Email address
  • Gender
  • Age group
  • Country
  • Phone number (optional)

When you use our comments service, we also process:

  • Your chosen display name, comment or reply, and submission time. Approved contributions, their display names, and displayed dates are public. Please avoid including private information about yourself or other people in your name or comment.
  • The email address you supply with a comment. It is stored separately from the public comment and is not included in public comment responses. Authorized moderators can access it and use it to respond to you.
  • Reactions and a random visitor credential. These let the service remember your selection and update reaction counts. The credential is stored in your browser; the service stores a hashed version. Public reaction counts do not display your email address.
  • Technical and moderation information. This supports bot checks, limits on abusive requests, and records of moderation decisions. Hosting and security providers may process IP addresses and browser/request information.

Leaving a comment does not subscribe you to the newsletter. We do not ask for payment details or government identifiers through these features.

Why we use it, and our lawful basis

We use newsletter and contact information to:

  • send you our newsletter and faith resources, and
  • respond to you if you reach out to us.

Our lawful basis for newsletter subscriptions is your consent, which you give by ticking the consent box on the subscription form (GDPR Article 6(1)(a); and the equivalent under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023). To confirm it is really you, we use double opt-in: after you sign up, we email you a confirmation code and link, and you are only added once you enter the code or click the link.

We use comment and reaction information to receive and moderate contributions, publish approved discussions, remember reactions, notify our moderation team, respond to readers, and prevent spam and abuse.

You can withdraw your consent at any time (see Your rights and How to unsubscribe below). Withdrawing consent does not affect anything we did lawfully before you withdrew it.

How your information is stored and who processes it

We use the following service providers to process information for the features described here:

  • Google — your submitted details are received through Google Forms and sheets and are then transferred into Google Cloud BigQuery for storage; our newsletter is sent using Google’s email services.
  • Netlify — hosts this website.
  • PocketHost — hosts our GOSW comments service, built with PocketBase, and stores comments, replies, private contact emails, reactions, moderation records, and related service data and backups.
  • Cloudflare Turnstile — checks comment submissions for bots and abuse. Cloudflare processes browser and connection signals, including IP addresses, for this purpose. See the Cloudflare Turnstile Privacy Addendum.
  • Resend — delivers comment-notification emails to our moderation inbox. These emails contain the comment and a moderation link; the commenter’s email, when supplied, is used as the Reply-To address so our team can respond. Google’s email services also process these notifications in our ministry inbox.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information, and we do not share it with anyone for their own marketing.

Cookies and similar technologies

This website does not run advertising or analytics trackers. Limited cookies or browser storage may be used by site features, including search and the comments service. The GOSW comments service uses local storage for a random visitor credential to remember reactions. Clearing it may remove the service’s ability to recognize your previous selections; it does not delete server-side comments or reactions. Turnstile also processes technical signals for bot protection as described above. You can control or clear browser storage through your browser settings.

International data transfers

Because we rely on the providers listed above, your information may be stored or processed outside your country. The location depends on the provider and service configuration; processing is not necessarily limited to a single country. You can contact us for information about the transfer safeguards applicable to your data.

How long we keep it

We keep your newsletter information for as long as you remain subscribed. If you unsubscribe, or ask us to delete your data, we remove your details from our active subscriber list.

If you sign up but never confirm (by code or link), your details stay in an unconfirmed, pending state — you are never added to our active subscriber list and never receive our newsletter. Signups left unconfirmed for more than 30 days are flagged for our review and then removed by us.

Comments and replies are retained to preserve discussions, including historical comments transferred from Cusdis. Comment contact details, reactions, moderation records and notification records are also stored by the service; they are not governed by the newsletter’s unsubscribe or 30-day pending-signup rules. You can ask us to delete your comment-related information using the contact address below. Unsubscribing from the newsletter does not automatically delete comments.

Private backups and exports may retain copies after information is removed from the active service. Removing a comment from public view through moderation is not the same as deleting all associated records. Please identify the post and comment when making a deletion request so we can address the relevant records and retained copies.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (including under the EU/UK GDPR and the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023), you have the right to:

  • access the personal information we hold about you,
  • ask us to correct information that is wrong or out of date,
  • ask us to delete your information,
  • restrict or object to how we use it,
  • request a copy of your information in a portable format, and
  • withdraw your consent at any time.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at spiritworshipgen@gmail.com. If you believe we have not handled your data properly, you may also lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority — for example, the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC), or your national supervisory authority within the EU/UK.

How to unsubscribe

Every newsletter we send includes an Unsubscribe link, which opens a pre-addressed email to us — just send it and we will remove your details from our subscriber list. You can also email us directly at any time at spiritworshipgen@gmail.com.

Children’s privacy

GOSW’s content is intended for a general audience. If you are below the age of digital consent in your country (for example, under 16 in parts of the EU, or under 13 in some countries), please subscribe only with the involvement and permission of a parent or guardian. If you believe a child has given us their information without such permission, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the “Effective date” at the top of this page. Significant changes may also be announced in our newsletter.
