What Type of Greatness Are You Looking For?

People of God, anything that started dubiously will surely end dubiously. Therefore as Children of God it is better to live poorly on the fruits of God’s goodness than live plentifully upon the products of our sin. Remember, everything big starts little.

What Type of Greatness Are You Looking For?

John 14:27, Matthew 13:31-32

There are two types of greatness in this world:

1. Greatness Born of God

This type of greatness derives its resources, blessings, and foundation from God. It is built on His promises, guided by His Word, and sustained by His Spirit.

Jesus said, “My peace I give to you; not as the world gives” (John 14:27). In the same way, Jesus offers His joy, blessings, and greatness—but not as the world gives.

God’s greatness brings true peace, fulfillment, and purpose, with no hidden costs or regrets. When God blesses, it enriches without sorrow (Proverbs 10:22).

2. Greatness Born of Satan

This type of greatness derives its resources from the devil. It may appear attractive, but it is deceptive and costly.

Satan, too, can bless and make people “great,” but his blessings are counterfeit. They come with strings attached. When satan gives you “apparent peace” or success with the right hand, he takes something critical to your life with the left hand.

This is what we call the “devil’s sacrifice”—where you exchange your spiritual connection with God, your inner peace, or even your soul, for temporary worldly gain.

Satan’s True Agenda: To Destroy Your Relationship with God

One thing you must always remember: satan’s greatest interest is to overthrow your relationship with God.

To achieve this, satan uses your situation—whether it is sickness, poverty, delay, or failure. He whispers lies to make you doubt your identity as a child of God. At your lowest moments, he tempts you to question your faith:

“Why is this happening to me if I’m a child of God? Why hasn’t God answered me? I need to look for solutions elsewhere.”

This is how many people begin to turn to dubious alternatives outside of the church—compromising their faith, values, and eternal destiny for temporary relief.

A Word of Wisdom

Anything that starts dubiously will surely end dubiously.

As children of God, it is far better to live humbly on the fruits of God’s goodness than to live plentifully on the products of sin. Trust God’s process, because everything big starts little.

Godly Greatness Takes Time

The world may glorify quick success and shortcuts, but God’s greatness often requires patience, faith, and consistency. Remember:

  • The mustard seed starts as the smallest seed but grows into the largest tree (Matthew 13:31-32).

  • Joseph endured slavery and prison before rising to greatness in Egypt.

  • David was anointed as king as a young shepherd, but it took years of trials before he ruled over Israel.

God’s timing is perfect, and His process is intentional. Do not rush greatness by stepping outside of His will.

A Final Warning: Beware of Satan’s Counterfeit Greatness

Satan’s blessings may seem appealing, but they come with devastating consequences. They are designed to rob you of:

  1. Your relationship with God (your greatest treasure).

  2. Your peace of mind and eternal joy.

  3. Your future and purpose.

Satan’s so-called “greatness” will ultimately leave you empty and broken.

Encouragement for Today

As children of God, we must stand firm in our faith and trust in the greatness that comes from God alone.

  • Choose to endure trials with God rather than seek temporary solutions outside His will.

  • Remember, everything big starts little, so trust God’s process in your life.

  • Keep your focus on eternity, not on temporary pleasures or quick fixes.

A Simple Prayer

🌿 Father, give me the grace to trust in Your greatness and not be deceived by satan’s counterfeit blessings. Help me to remain steadfast in You, no matter my circumstances. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
