There is No Substitute for Reading Your Bible

Many people mistakenly think that going to church or listening to preaching can replace reading the Bible. They say, “I don’t have time; I’m too busy.” But the real question is: Who owns your time?
🌱 There is no substitute for Bible reading.
Going to church is great, but it does not replace personal study of the Scriptures.
Listening to preaching is good, but it is not a substitute for hearing God’s voice directly through His Word.
Why Must You Read Your Bible?
1️⃣ When you read the Bible, you hear God talk.
- God speaks to you directly through His Word. It’s a personal conversation between you and your Creator.
2️⃣ When you read it, it reads you.
- The Bible is like a mirror; it reveals who you are, your weaknesses, strengths, and areas that need correction. Hebrews 4:12 says, “For the word of God is alive and active, sharper than any double-edged sword…”
3️⃣ Where do you get the words for your prayers?
Scriptural prayers—prayers filled with God’s Word—release God’s power. It is His Word in your prayer that brings Jesus into the scene.
If your prayer lacks the Word, it lacks life and power.
4️⃣ God’s Power Works Through His Word by His Spirit.
- Transformation comes when the Holy Spirit breathes life into the Word you have stored in your heart.
To Be Word-Minded is to Be God-Minded
When you immerse yourself in God’s Word:
Your mind becomes aligned with His will.
Your decisions are guided by His truth.
Your prayers carry divine authority.
Prayer:
“Lord Jesus, I yield my heart to Your Word. Let Your Word become a reality in me, and preserve me from desiring sin. Help me make time daily to study and meditate on Your Word, no matter how busy my day may seem. Amen.”
