Are You Worrying About Your Future? Trust God’s Timing and Plan

1 Samuel 3:1-10, Exodus 3:1-10, James 4:13-16

No One is Too Young or Too Old for Success

Are you anxious about your future, wondering if you’re too young or too old to achieve success? The Bible reminds us that age is never a barrier to fulfilling God’s purpose. God’s timing and grace surpass all human limitations.

Consider Samuel—a young boy chosen by God to become His mouthpiece for Israel. From childhood, Samuel listened to God’s voice and carried out His instructions faithfully (1 Samuel 3:1-10).

What about Moses? At the age of 80, when most people would think of slowing down, God called him to rescue the Israelites from slavery and lead them toward the Promised Land (Exodus 3:1-10).

These stories teach us that no one is:

  • Too young or too old to succeed.

  • Too good or too bad to receive God’s grace.

Success isn’t about your age or qualifications—it’s about your readiness to follow God’s plan for your life.

Are You Prepared for What God Wants You to Be?

The real question isn’t whether you can succeed, but whether you are prepared to fulfill God’s purpose for your life.

Many of us desire God’s blessings but are not willing to put in the work required to receive them. True success—success that honors God—takes time and preparation.

As Christians, we must prepare our hearts and lives to:

  1. Follow Christ wholeheartedly every single day.

  2. Trust His timing rather than rushing ahead in our own strength.

  3. Submit to His will, acknowledging that He is in control and we are His children.

James 4:13-16 warns us against arrogance and self-sufficiency:
“Now listen, you who say, ‘Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.’ Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. Instead, you ought to say, ‘If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.’”

Excluding God from our plans is an act of arrogance. When we rely on ourselves instead of Him, we are not preparing for tomorrow in the way He desires.

True Success Takes Preparation

If we work hard to ensure the success of our businesses, marriages, or personal goals, how much more should we invest in preparing to follow Christ and fulfill His purpose for our lives?

Here are practical steps to prepare for what God wants you to be:

1. Include God in Your Plans

  • Always seek God’s guidance before making decisions. Pray for His wisdom and direction.

  • Proverbs 3:5-6 says:
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.”

2. Be Faithful in Small Things

  • God often uses small tasks to prepare us for bigger responsibilities. Be diligent in whatever He has entrusted to you, no matter how insignificant it seems.

3. Cultivate a Life of Prayer and Obedience

  • Spend time in prayer and Scripture daily. Listen to God’s voice and obey His instructions, just like Samuel did.

4. Trust God’s Timing

  • Don’t rush ahead of God’s plan. Trust that He knows the best time to bring His promises to pass in your life.

  • Ecclesiastes 3:11 reminds us:
“He has made everything beautiful in its time.”

Avoid the Sin of Self-Sufficiency

When we leave God out of our plans, we are essentially telling Him that we don’t need His help. This is the sin of arrogance and self-sufficiency.

We must acknowledge that:

  • He is God, and we are not.

  • He is the Father, and we are His children.

By submitting to His will and trusting Him completely, we open the door for His blessings to flow in our lives.

Prayer

“Lord Jesus, give me the grace to prepare for You daily. Help me to trust Your timing and plan for my life. Teach me to submit to Your will and include You in every decision I make. May I always acknowledge You as my Father and place my hope in You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
