WHAT IT TAKES TO BE USED BY GOD
🌿 Take God’s Word to Heart
“If you take God’s Word to heart and truly make it a part of you by meditation, it will by its very nature change you by renewing your mind, and when it does, you’ll find yourself moved to act with God.” — Prophet TB Joshua
What does it mean really? Let’s break it down.
“If you take God’s Word to heart”
This means you read it with devotion. You read it slowly, repeatedly and attentively. I mean read it as if your entire life depends on knowing it. Not the way you skim a text message to see if it needs a reply. Not the way you rush through a chapter just to tick off today’s reading plan. Taking the Word to heart means you stop long enough on a verse to let it search you back.
“Spiritual insight into Christ Jesus can only come by reading the Bible with devotion.” — Prophet TB Joshua
Devotion is the difference between a student cramming the night before an exam and a woman rereading a letter from someone she cannot stop thinking about. One reads to pass. The other reads because she wants to stay close.
“and truly make it a part of you”
This is meditation. You turn it over and over again in your heart until it stops being information and becomes an integral part of who you are. You allow the Word to dominate your heart, the way a tenant does not just visit a house but moves in, unpacks every box, and starts living there f
“The Word of God must not only be on your lips, but rooted deep in your spirit.” — Prophet TB Joshua
“Engage your heart with the Word of God you have read attentively, slowly and repeatedly and it will begin to influence your conduct and character.” — Prophet TB Joshua
“Put on the new man by renewing your mind with God’s Word and submitting your body to the authority of that Word.” — Prophet TB Joshua
Picture a seed lying on top of the soil next to one buried inside it. The one on top gets carried off by the first strong wind or picked up by the first bird passing by. The one buried takes root where no one can see it, until one day it is a tree nobody can uproot. Meditation is what buries the Word in you.
“it will by its very nature change you”
When the Word dominates your heart, when it is firmly rooted in your spirit, it does not stay quiet. It influences your conduct and your character. You gradually become a more righteous person before God, not because you are trying harder to behave, but because you no longer live to gratify the desires of your flesh and sinful nature: the lying stop, the lustfulness loses its grip, the hatred weakens, the envy fades, the anger softens, the gossip loses its attraction, the negative thoughts no longer rule you.
Instead, you find yourself manifesting the desires of the spirit more. You begin Loving God more, you love people more. Prayer becomes natural. Humility grows. you start becoming more conscious of sin and dying to self. You become hungry for the Word that continues renewing your mind. You Meditate more on God’s Word. You actively include God in your daily plan and activities. Patience and Perseverance grows everyday.
“We are made righteous through faith in Christ.” — Romans 3:22
“The word of God dominating your heart is the Lordship of Christ Jesus in you.” — Prophet TB Joshua
“There is a constant war between the flesh and the spirit as long as we are in this world.” — Prophet TB Joshua
This is the war every believer fights. The Word rooted in you does not end the fight. It decides who wins it.
“and when it does”
This happens because of these changes in you through the influence of His Word in your life. Not by your willpower. Not by your resolutions made on a new year or after a hard fall. By the Word that has become part of you.
“you’ll find yourself moved to act with God”
He starts to call you to work on His projects. Give to the needy. Write for Him. Speak for Him. Heal the sick. Know God’s opinion of yourself and of others.
“Everything is possible for the one who believes.” — Mark 9:23
“When we know the Word is God speaking to us, it will not be difficult for us to obey It; it will not be difficult for us to act upon It.” — Prophet TB Joshua
Notice the order here. God does not send you to act first and hope the change follows later. He changes you first, quietly, in secret, through meditation. Then He sends you, because now you are carrying something worth sending.
In other words
“To the degree we reverence God’s Word in our heart, to that same degree will the Spirit be released.” — Prophet TB Joshua
The level of power you walk in while acting with God depends on the degree to which your belief and faith are working together.
“What is possible for you in Christ Jesus depends on your capacity to believe.” — Prophet TB Joshua
Some people ask why they pray without power, why they serve without fruit, why they speak and nothing moves. Ask them how much of God’s Word they have let sit in their heart this year. The measure of your reverence for the Word is the measure of the Spirit you carry.
You were not created to read the Bible and stay the same. You were created to be changed by it, and to move with God because of it. Ordinary is reading the Word and closing the book. But when the Word dominates your heart, you stop being ordinary. You become someone God can send.
