Divine Calling: What You Possess, You Give
🌿 Your Calling Is What You Carry, Not What You Copy
“The beginner is not the owner of the job but the FINISHER.” — Prophet T.B. Joshua
In today’s world, many are busy studying the “callings” of others, trying to replicate their ministries, careers, or assignments. Yet a divine calling is never copied—it is endowed.
Your true calling is not something you pick from books, nor is it defined by earthly mentors or philosophies. It is what you already carry within you by divine deposit.
As Prophet T.B. Joshua taught:
“Prosperity is not the evidence that you are called. You can be very rich in what you are doing and yet it is not your calling from Heaven. The end will prove that what I am doing is my calling from God.”
What Is a Divine Calling?
A divine calling is not a career decision or something you study into. It is not something you borrow or imitate. It is what you already carry inside—something God has deposited in you before you were formed in the womb.
It is not in your title, your followers, or your skills.
> Your true calling is the evidence of what God has already placed in you.
Prophet TB Joshua taught:
“When God calls you, He makes you fit for the assignment. But when you are not called, you will use man’s intelligence, repeat the name of Jesus like a charm, and still get no divine result.”
🔥 How Do You Know You Are Operating in a Divine Calling
1. Your Gift Flows Naturally, Yet Supernaturally
When you are walking in your divine calling, what you do feels natural to you, yet it produces supernatural results. You are not relying on charisma or mimicry; you’re operating by revelation.
“It is what you possess that you give.”
You cannot give power if you don’t carry it. You cannot give light if your own candle is not lit.
—
2. You Are Led, Not Driven
A divine calling is guided by the Holy Spirit—not ambition, applause, or imitation. You do not rush to perform or compete; you move at the speed of revelation.
> “Those who are led by the Spirit of God are the sons of God.” — Romans 8:14
—
3. You Possess Divine Authority, Not Just Activity
When you’re truly called, calling the name of Jesus once is like lighting a candle—it continues to burn. But when you’re not called, you will repeat “in Jesus’ name” like a magic word—with no power backing it.
Prophet TB Joshua said:
“Many call the name Jesus like it’s an incantation—but Jesus is not a name to be chanted. He is a Person to be revealed. He will come to the scene with power from the Holy Ghost”
A Copycat Calling Cannot Stand the Test of Time
You can imitate someone’s actions, but you cannot imitate their calling. Every divine assignment has its own grace—and when you leave your path to walk in someone else’s, you abandon the grace appointed for you.
“Each one should test their own actions. Then they can take pride in themselves alone, without comparing themselves to someone else.” — Galatians 6:4
A True Calling
When God calls, He empowers. One word from your mouth is enough to light a fire because Christ Himself is in the scene. Calling the name of Jesus becomes like lighting a candle—you don’t keep striking the match; the flame burns on.
A Copycat Calling
When you are not called, you may find yourself repeating the name of Jesus like an incantation, thinking repetition will bring power. But it won’t—because Jesus is not revealed in you. Instead, you lean on intelligence, borrowed ideologies, and man-made strategies. And such work cannot stand the test of time.
🌱 Characteristics of a Divine Calling
1. Distinct from a Job
- A career can bring temporary prosperity.
- A calling may not look profitable at the start, but its end will prove its authenticity (Hebrews 12:2).
2. Manifestation of Destiny
- A calling is what you were destined to do.
- It aligns your life with peace, joy, and divine purpose.
3. Divine Origin
God plants in you a deep passion that cannot be explained by coincidence.
As Prophet T.B. Joshua said:
“A divine calling is destiny. It is not man’s choice, but God’s decision.”
🙇 How to Respond to a Divine Calling
• Overcome Fear
Do not let doubt mute your destiny. Fear is satan’s trap to keep you small (2 Timothy 1:7).
• Step Out in Faith
If God has called you to it. He will provide for it.
• Get A Mentor
Find a person who operates in their own calling that you can humble yourself and learn from. Humility plays a major role here. It is the oil that helps character shine.
• Renew Your Mind Daily With The Word and Live in Truth
Submit your thoughts to God’s Word. Romans 12:2 says:
“Be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”
Let your character reflect the Word of God more than your gifting.
A calling thrives in integrity. Without obedience to God’s truth, power cannot flow.
• Release Your Faith
You must believe in the calling and release that belief by faith—often through confession (Mark 11:23).
🎯 The Purpose of a Calling
- Fulfilment — A true calling satisfies your soul and clarifies your purpose.
- Authority — You become an authority in your own destiny because God endorses what He authors.
- Completion of Assignment — You carry God’s purpose until the end. The FINISHER, not the beginner, is the proof of calling.
📖 Biblical & Practical Examples
- Moses: He didn’t study how to lead Israel. God called and empowered him at the burning bush (Exodus 3:10–12).
- Jeremiah: He doubted his voice and youth, but God said: “Before you were born, I appointed you” (Jeremiah 1:5).
- Gideon: He doubted his ability to save His people from the Midianites: “The Lord turned to him and said, “Go in the strength you have and save Israel out of Midian’s hand. Am I not sending you?” (Judges 6:14)
- Apostle Paul: His calling was proven not by wealth but by a life poured out in obedience—even unto death (2 Timothy 4:7).
- Prophet T.B. Joshua: He stepped out with no worldly qualification, no formal seminary, yet the power of God in his calling transformed nations and generations.
🌿 People of God
Your calling is not about copying others—it is about carrying what God has already placed within you. It is not about beginning in excitement but about finishing in obedience.
Examine and Ask yourself:
- What flows from me naturally in the Spirit?
- What gives me peace, even when it’s hard?
- What has God been nudging me to step into, but I keep hesitating?
- Are you pursuing a career, or are you walking in your calling?
- Are you repeating names like charms, or are you moving in revelation and power?
👉 Remember: “It is what you possess, you give.”
🙏 Prayer
“Lord Jesus, show me who I truly am in You. Deliver me from imitation, and ignite the fire of my true calling. Let me walk not in man’s intelligence but in divine revelation. Give me the boldness to step away from career if necessary, and into Your purpose—because only Your plan will give me peace and eternal reward. In Jesus’ name, amen.”
Take more of me, and give me more of You.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
