While breath is still in your body, mercy is still within reach. Forgiveness and praise are divine privileges of the living—don’t wait until it’s too late.

Figure 1: Jesus, Remember Me - SpiritWorshipGen

🌿 Forgiveness, Praise, and the Privilege of the Living

“But the other criminal protested, ‘Don’t you fear God even when you have been sentenced to die?… Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.’”
— Luke 23:40–42

In one of the most dramatic moments in scripture, a dying criminal reached out to the Savior—not with a polished prayer, but with a desperate cry. He didn’t ask for a second chance at life, fame, or riches. He asked for eternity. And Jesus gave it to him. In his final breath, he discerned eternity and made the most important request any human can make: “Jesus, remember me.”

That moment reveals an eternal truth: forgiveness is only available to the living.

He acknowledged his guilt.
He didn’t claim to be righteous.
He simply turned to the right Person—at the right time.

And Jesus responded with pure mercy:

“Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.” — Luke 23:43

That’s the overwhelming mercy of God. But here’s the sobering truth:
That opportunity is only available while you are alive.

As long as you are still breathing, mercy is still within reach. The opportunity for forgiveness ends with your last breath.

💧 Forgiveness Is Only for the Living

As long as you are alive, you have access to God’s mercy. No matter your past, no matter your failures, His arms are open. This is why Prophet T.B. Joshua often said:

“We wake up in the morning not because we deserve to live, but because of God’s mercy.”

But once a person dies, the window for repentance closes. The transition into eternity means entering into judgment, not negotiation.

“And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment.” — Hebrews 9:27

In life, there is a daily opportunity to seek God’s mercy. But the moment a person dies, that window closes forever.

  • Angels do not preach repentance.

  • Demons cannot repent or be forgiven.

  • Spirits of the dead do not receive second chances.

This is why demons and fallen angels cannot be forgiven—they are spirit beings. They have no access to the grace that belongs to those who live in flesh and blood.

Likewise, when a human being dies, they transit into a spirit and can no longer receive grace or mercy. Their eternal position is already determined.

As painful as it may be, you cannot pray forgiveness into the past for someone who has already passed. The chapter on repentance ends with the final breath.

🛑 Why Demons Can Never Be Forgiven

“God did not spare the angels who sinned, but cast them down to hell…” — 2 Peter 2:4

Demons are spirit beings who have already been judged. They possess no mortal body, no window of repentance, and no hope of restoration. Their rebellion was eternal in nature and so was their sentence.

Likewise, when a human dies, their spirit leaves the body and joins the ranks of the spirit realm. They no longer operate under the same divine grace extended to the living.

You cannot buy salvation on behalf of someone who has crossed over. You cannot confess for them. You cannot fast for them. The dead await either rest or judgment—not mercy.

🌅 The Grave Has No Voice

💭 Can the Dead Repent?

The answer is NO. The spiritual realm is not a place of conversion. It is a place of consequence.

King David once cried out with deep understanding:

“For the dead do not remember you. Who can praise you from the grave?” — Psalm 6:5

If the dead cannot praise God, neither can they repent. Repentance requires consciousness, conviction, and the gift of time—all of which vanish at death.

Life is your only chance to worship God.

In heaven, the angels and saints don’t ask for grace—they glorify God eternally.

If you don’t praise Him now, when will you start?

If you don’t ask for forgiveness now, when do you intend to?

Praise is more than a song; it is a living declaration. It’s a choice, made daily, to glorify the One who gave you life. It is a privilege tied to breath.

“Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.” — Psalm 150:6

If you’re alive today, you still have the holy privilege to lift up your voice in thanksgiving. Don’t waste that gift.

👑 The Number One Occupation in Heaven

What happens in heaven—right now?

“Day and night they never stop saying:
‘Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was, and is, and is to come.’”
— Revelation 4:8

Heaven resounds with uninterrupted worship.

Praise Is a Privilege of the Living

“Let everything that has breath praise the Lord!” — Psalm 150:6

If you don’t enjoy praising God now, you may not enjoy heaven later.
Worship is not a church activity—it’s the heartbeat of eternity.

Your highest purpose isn’t in your profession, status, or achievements—it is in your praise.

  • Angels exist to glorify Him (Isaiah 6:3).

  • The twenty-four elders cast their crowns before Him (Revelation 4:10).

  • The saints in glory do not rest, crying, “Holy, holy, holy!”

But you, child of God, have the unique chance to praise Him by choice while you are still on this side of eternity.

Let heaven begin here.
Let your daily walk become a rehearsal for eternal glory.

📍 Heaven Starts Here

The decision of where you spend eternity is made here—not there.

Heaven is not just a destination—it’s a demonstration. So many think heaven is just a future destination. But scripture teaches: “Your Kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” (Matthew 6:10)

If heaven is filled with praise, you must live like heaven now.

If your daily lifestyle doesn’t glorify God, then heaven might just be unfamiliar to you.
To truly belong there, your life here must already reflect the atmosphere of heaven: worship, obedience, repentance, purity, and praise.

“Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.” — Psalm 150:6

🧎‍♂️ What Should You Do?

  1. Repent now, while mercy is available.
Just like the thief on the cross, bring your weakness to the Lord.
“Jesus, remember me…” is still a prayer He answers.

  2. Praise continually
Let praise be the rhythm of your day—not just reserved for Sunday.

  3. Value your breath
Every heartbeat is a reminder: mercy is still available.

  4. Live with eternity in mind
What you do now echoes forever. Start living like someone preparing for paradise.

  5. Forgive others now, while your heart is still beating.

Don’t waste the privilege of being alive. Every breath is an invitation to return to God.

💬 Prophet TB Joshua once said:

“Forgiveness is the seed of a new beginning. A man is not old until he stops seeking forgiveness.”

“We wake up in the morning not because we deserve to live, but because of God’s mercy.”

Don’t delay your return to God.
Forgiveness is not for spirits. It is for you. Right now.

🙏 A Final Reflection

Beloved, this moment—this breath—is a divine gift. If you’re still breathing, you’re still in the mercy zone.

Don’t wait for a hospital bed or deathbed repentance. Don’t gamble with eternity. Cry out like the thief:
“Jesus, remember me.”

And if you’ve been forgiven—praise Him like one who knows the grave is silent.

Let every morning remind you that forgiveness is possible.
Let every heartbeat prompt you to praise without shame.

Because one day, your earthly voice will fall silent.
And what remains will be what you chose to do with your breath.

“Jesus, remember me…”
That one plea changed a man’s eternity.

What will your words do today?

🙏 PRAYER

“Lord Jesus, I thank You for the opportunity to still be alive.
Help me not to waste this moment.
I repent of all my sins and ask for Your mercy.
Let me live a life of worship and obedience that glorifies You.
Teach me to number my days and use each one to bring You honor.
In Jesus’ name. Amen.”
