Relationship Gives Access, Fellowship Keeps You Connected

Figure 1: Who Owns that Empty Chair in Heaven? - SpiritWorshipGen

Introduction

Relationship gives me the access code into God’s presence while fellowship keeps me in God’s presence. When we sin in the body, we break our fellowship with God; but our seat is still there but unoccupied. Remember the Prodigal son?

When there is fellowship in heaven among the saints, angels, and all citizens of heaven, we are often in our spirits to join them. Do you find yourself waking up at set times every night to pray? It happens, to me (Sammy), my guardian angel wakes me up at 1am everyday to read my bible and pray. This is when i receive many revelations from God.

When we sin against God, we do not lose our relationship but we lose fellowship. Our seat in the heavenly assembly is empty because of our sin; everyone in the heavenly assembly knows we are not there, but they pray for our return. Before Christ came, God tried to build this relationship, through His prophets whom He commanded to teach us His commands, but often times man failed the first stage of that process of building a relationship with God, let alone maintain fellowship with Him.

The prophets tried to atone for man’s sins through the sacrifice of animal blood, but this was not as effective as was wanted, so He decided that only one blood sacrifice from one who had never sinned can atone for the sins of all mankind, both living and those yet unborn—that’s where our LORD and precious savior Jesus Christ was sent—John 3:16 to restore the relationship and fellowship between God and man through the sacrifice of His precious blood on the Cross of Calvary.

Jesus Christ, therefore, came to restore the relationship and fellowship between God and man. Through our belief in God’s word, we enter into a relationship with God, but the Holy Spirit keeps us in the fellowship by helping us obey His commands.

Obedience to God’s word keeps us in the fellowship with God. Obedience is the culture of heaven. Prophet TB Joshua taught that—a break in faith is a break in prayer, and a break in prayer is a break with God. When we sin, we break our faith, but we are not supposed to break our prayers due to sin—we are supposed to immediately run to God for forgiveness in prayer so we do not lose our fellowship with God.

Fellowship with God happens through prayer. Prayer is the master key, but there are other keys. Reading the Word is one key, hearing the word is another key, but meditation in God’s word in prayer is the master key to God’s bedroom. That key opens the door of divine fellowship.

A free heart attracts the Holy Spirit. A pure heart takes us into God’s presence and keeps us in fellowship with Him—Matthew 5:8, “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God” (receive His revelations).

To see God is to be in fellowship with Him. A free heart is a fertile ground for the word of God to grow. When we obey God’s word, faith develops, and one day it will mature into a pure heart— A heart that receives divine revelations from God.*

“Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.” — James 4:8

In the spiritual life, relationship is your entry point—but fellowship is what keeps you in. One gives you access; the other keeps the connection alive. Relationship is identity. Fellowship is intimacy.

God Bless You as you dig deeper below for the elaborate explanation of my this revelation from God.

🔐 Relationship: The Access Code to God’s Presence

Relationship with God begins when we believe in His Word and surrender our lives to Him through Christ Jesus.

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” — John 3:16

Through this belief, we receive a seat in heaven. But when we sin, though our seat remains, we are absent from the gathering of divine fellowship.

“Your seat is there. But is it occupied?”

This is why the parable of the Prodigal Son remains relevant (Luke 15:11–32). The son never lost his identity, but he lost his place—his fellowship—until he returned home.

🗣️ “When we sin, we break our fellowship with God, not our relationship. That’s why we must run back to Him—not away.”

“Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.” — Psalm 51:10
“Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me.” — Psalm 51:11

Through faith in Jesus Christ, we are saved, adopted, and seated in heavenly places (Ephesians 2:6). Our relationship with God is unshakeable — a divine right given to all who believe. Yet, like a son who belongs but isn’t present, relationship alone does not guarantee closeness.

🔥 Fellowship: Remaining in His Presence

Jesus came to restore both relationship and fellowship with God. While belief (faith) brings you into relationship, it is obedience—powered by the Holy Spirit that keeps you in fellowship.

“The culture of heaven is obedience.”— Samuel Egot

“A break in faith is a break in prayer. A break in prayer is a break with God.”

— Prophet TB Joshua

This is why David prayed earnestly:

“Cast me not away from Your presence, and take not Your Holy Spirit from me.” — Psalm 51:11

He knew the danger of losing fellowship. A guilty conscience is a barrier to prayer. But a pure heart draws God close:

“Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.” — Matthew 5:8

Fellowship is the daily communion of heart and Spirit.

It thrives through:

- Obedience to God’s voice
- Prayer as our master key
- Meditation on Scripture as the entry to the throne‑room
- Sensitivity to the Holy Spirit

🧎 Prayer: The Key to Divine Fellowship

There are many keys in the kingdom—reading the Word, hearing the Word—but meditation (prayer) is the master key that opens God’s bedroom.

“Meditation in God’s Word in prayer is the master key to divine fellowship.”

When you meditate, your spirit becomes a landing point for the Holy Spirit. A free heart—a heart without offense—becomes a dwelling place for God.

“A free heart is a fertile ground for God’s Word. A pure heart attracts the Spirit of God.”—TB Joshua

⚖️ Relationship vs. Fellowship: Before and After Christ

From Prophets to the Perfect Lamb

Before Christ, God sent prophets to teach His commands. They used animal sacrifices to atone for sin—but this was temporary. Incomplete.

Moses taught. Elijah rebuked. Samuel interceded.

But none could restore perfect fellowship until Jesus, the Lamb without blemish, laid down His life. His blood became the eternal bridge—restoring what sin had broken.

God gave us access through Christ—“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son…” (John 3:16). But what sustains that intimacy? Obedience. Reverence. Fellowship.

Before the Cross, blood sacrifices could never secure lasting fellowship.

“For it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins — Hebrews 10:4.

Sin interrupted communion again and again. But God’s plan was redemption.

Jesus bridged the gap:
- Relationship begins by believing in Him (John 3:16)
- Fellowship continues by walking with Him daily through the Spirit

🕊️ The Holy Spirit: Our Companion and Keeper of Fellowship

“Do not cast me away from Your presence, and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me.” — Psalm 51:11

David knew the secret. The presence of God is maintained by the Spirit of God. You may be a child of God, but without the Holy Spirit, you are a child outside the house.

When we sin, we do not lose our relationship with God—but we lose our fellowship with Him. Our seat in Heaven becomes vacant. The angels know. The saints feel it. All of Heaven prays for your return.

David prayed not to lose the Spirit (Psalm 51:11). The Spirit: - Convicts us of sin - Empowers obedience - Comforts us in His presence - Reveals Jesus

When we sin, fellowship is disrupted—repentance reopens the door:

“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” — 1 John 1:9

💡 A Pure Heart Hears God, A Clean Heart Attracts Him

“Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.” — Matthew 5:8

When we sin against God, we lose our fellowship with Him, but because we have a relationship with God, we can run to Him for forgiveness of our sin. Forgiveness of sin creates a clean heart, a free heart, a heart devoid of offense—which attracts the Holy Spirit. A free heart is loyal to the Spirit of God because it allows Him to be Himself in us—Psalm 51:10. A Pure heart keeps the door open.

  • To see God is to be in fellowship with Him.

  • A free heart attracts the Holy Spirit.

  • A pure heart becomes a landing strip for divine revelation.

When we obey God’s Word, our heart is purified. As purity increases, revelation flows.

Purity doesn’t mean perfection. It means a heart quick to repent, free from offense, and ready to obey—a landing strip for the Holy Spirit.

👣 How to Stay in Divine Fellowship with God

  1. Confess Sin Immediately

Don’t wait. Run back to God in prayer. Let forgiveness cleanse you. (Psalm 51:10)

  2. Guard Your Heart Daily
Keep your heart free from offense, envy, lust, pride, and bitterness.

  3. Maintain Daily Prayer Habits

Prayer walks, quiet time, and worship keep your heart tender.

  4. Live in the Word

Reading, hearing, meditating on the Word — let the Word be your food.

  5. Obey what you read

Practice the Word and let your character reflect Jesus to others — Obedience is heaven’s culture.

  6. Ask for the Holy Spirit Daily

Invite the Spirit each morning. He is the One who keeps the flame of fellowship burning — His companionship keeps us aligned.

“Meditation in God’s Word in prayer is the key to God’s bedroom.”

🔁 Final Takeaway

Your relationship with God gives you a seat at His table. Your fellowship with God keeps that seat occupied.

Don’t let sin rob you of fellowship. Run to God. Repent. Return. The angels are watching. Your seat is waiting.

  • Relationship is Belief in Jesus. It gives you the access code to Him.
  • Fellowship is the daily communion of heart and Spirit. It is maintained through daily obedience, prayer and purity
  • The Holy Spirit: He is our helper and the keeper of the fellowship with God. Without Him it is impossible to obey what we read in the scriptures.

When we sin, we don’t run from God — we run to Him. His invitation still stands. Our seat in heaven is secure; the question is: will we occupy it in fellowship?

🛐 Closing Prayer

“Lord Jesus, thank You for restoring my relationship with the Father. Holy Spirit, help me walk in daily fellowship. Cleanse my heart, fill me with Your desire, and teach me to obey. I don’t just want access — I want to dwell in Your presence. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

✨ Takeaway

Access is God’s gift. Fellowship is our practice. A heart aligned with the Holy Spirit transforms mere relationship into vibrant, daily communion.
