Figure 1: Genuine Love of God - SpiritWorshipGen

Love is the Root of All True Christianity

Matthew 22:37–40 | John 3:16 | 2 Corinthians 9:6–9

Christianity is not a religion of mere words, titles, or names—it is a lifestyle rooted in love. Everything we call salvation, grace, forgiveness, giving, and faith flows from the genuine love of God.

“You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind… and love your neighbor as yourself.”
Matthew 22:37–40

These two commandments summarize the entire law of God and the teachings of the prophets. Genuine love—toward God and man—is the core of Christian living.

God Gave First Because He Loved First

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son…”
John 3:16

If God had not loved, He would not have given.
If He had not given, there would be no salvation.
If there was no salvation, there would be no Christianity.

God’s giving was born out of His love—not from obligation, fear, or performance. This is the foundation of our faith.

True Love Always Results in Action

“Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously… God loves a cheerful giver.”
2 Corinthians 9:6–9

Genuine love is not passive. It moves. It gives. It helps.
As Prophet T.B. Joshua often taught:

“Love is the greatest. If it does not express itself in giving, it is not love.”

Whether it is your time, resources, forgiveness, or encouragement, love must find expression.

Whatever We Have Is Only Borrowed from God

“What do you have that you did not receive?” – 1 Corinthians 4:7

As children of God, all we have—our money, wisdom, gifts, and strength—is entrusted to us. We are stewards, not owners.

So, we must not withhold good from those in need when it is within our power to help (Proverbs 3:27).

Use This Season to Reflect God’s Love

Jesus Christ paid the supreme price—the gift of His life. This ultimate act of love is our pattern and calling as Christians.

“This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down His life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters.”
— 1 John 3:16

Let this love inspire action in your community.

Reach out to:

  • The elderly who are often forgotten.

  • The orphans who need family.

  • The underprivileged who need hope.

By doing this, you reflect the true nature of God.

Final Encouragement: Let Love Lead

Let us not reduce Christianity to mere sermons or Sunday worship. The essence of Christianity is living out the love of Christ daily.

When people see your life, they should say:

“This is a Christian. This is someone who reflects the love of Jesus.”
