The Benefits of Meditating on God’s Word
The Power of Meditation: Aligning Your Spirit with God’s Word
Key Scriptures:
📖 Proverbs 3:4 – “Then you will find favor and high regard in the sight of God and man.”
📖 Joshua 1:8 – “This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.”
📖 Psalm 1:2-3 – “But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on His law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither—whatever he does prospers.”
What is Meditation in the Word of God?
“I love those who love Me, and those who seek Me diligently will find Me.”
“The more you meditate on God’s Word and turn it over and over and over again in your heart, the more your spirit acts on God’s Word.” - T.B. Joshua
Meditation is thinking deeply on God’s Word, allowing it to dominate your heart and mind until it gains supremacy over you and becomes an integral part of you. Meditation takes You on a visit (Spiritual Journey) to God
Meditation trains, nurtures, and synchronizes our divine nature with the Holy Spirit. Each time negative thoughts come to your heart, it is a reminder to meditate. Instead of worrying, meditate on God’s promises.
Your life of meditation influences your conduct and character positively. It’s not that you will stop talking—you will—but it will be moderated. It’s not that you will stop visiting friends and family, but everything will naturally reduce because there is something more precious that you are doing, making you more attractive to God and man (Proverbs 3:4). Even if you are not a pastor, people will seek your advice; they will want to hear from you. You become unique—a peculiar being.
Every scripture you read, you can take a portion. One verse is enough—take it and turn it over and over in your heart (for 1–2 hours) before you sleep. Meditate on what you have read before you sleep. Each time you wake up, you will always have something good or constructive to say. When you dream, it will come to pass because you are acting with God through His Word dominating your mind.
Meditation is the act of deeply focusing on God’s Word, allowing it to shape your thoughts, guide your actions, and transform your spirit. It is a spiritual discipline that aligns you with the Holy Spirit and tunes your heart to God’s frequency.
💡 T.B. Joshua said:
“The more you meditate on God’s Word and turn it over and over and over again in your heart, the more your spirit acts on God’s Word.”
True meditation is not just reading; it is allowing the Word to take root in your heart and dominate your thoughts.
Why is Meditation So Powerful?
It Trains and Nurtures Your Spirit
Just as physical exercise strengthens the body, meditation strengthens your spirit.
It synchronizes your divine nature with the Holy Spirit, making you spiritually alert.
It Defends Against Negative Thoughts
Negative thoughts are a signal to meditate, not worry.
Instead of meditating on fear, failure, or anxiety, meditate on God’s promises (Philippians 4:8).
It Influences Your Conduct and Character
Meditation calms your spirit and guides your speech.
You will talk, but your words will be few and filled with wisdom.
You will interact with others, but your desire for meaningless distractions will reduce.
It Makes You Attractive to God and Men
Proverbs 3:4 says, “Then you will find favor and high regard in the sight of God and man.”
Even if you are not a pastor, people will seek your advice because of the wisdom you carry.
Your presence will radiate divine grace and peace.
Practical Steps to Meditate Effectively
Choose a Verse and Reflect on It
Do not rush through many chapters. One verse is enough. Read the scripture slowly, repeatedly and attentively.
Example: “The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want” (Psalm 23:1).
Think about what it means for your life. Reflect deeply on the meaning of that Word in your life. Think of how you can practise that word. If truly, you believe it then stop worrying and take God at His every Word.
Turn the Verse Over in Your Heart for 1-2 Hours
Just before you sleep, replay the verse in your mind slowly.
Speak it to yourself repeatedly.
Let Meditation Dominate Your Thoughts
When you wake up, your first thoughts will be of God.
Your dreams will reflect the Word of God.
What you meditate on manifests in your life daily.
Practice Meditation Throughout the Day
You can meditate while talking to other people. Meditation is of the heart (Spirit) and can happen simultaneously with your daily human activities.
Example: Before you make or receive a phone call, say “Thank You Jesus”
During quiet moments, instead of worrying, meditate.
Example: If you are facing challenges, meditate on Romans 8:28 – “All things work together for good…”
