As a Child of God, How do you maintain your relationship with God?
“The main thing about Christianity is not the work we do but the relationship we maintain and the atmosphere produced by that relationship. What we do for God is only a reflection of the relationship we have with God.” - Prophet T.B. Joshua
That does not mean the work you do for Him is not important; rather, it should not be your focus, and it cannot replace the “main thing”—your relationship with God.
Now, to maintain your relationship with God.These three things should help you:
1. Your total dependence on Him daily — Acts 17:28, Proverbs 3:5–6, Romans 8:5–8
2. Your daily duty toward Him – Deuteronomy 10:12, John 8:31
3. Your daily communion with Him – prayer, bible reading and meditation in God’s word— 1 Thessalonians 5:17, Leviticus 6:12-13, Daniel 6:10
Final Advice
Are you doing some work for God as a chorister, usher, preacher, evangelist, member of the camera crew, Sunday school teacher, etc.?
Don’t concentrate on this work as a substitute for a proper relationship with God. Working for God is only a reflection of your relationship. This means that this work should make it easier for you to draw closer to your God.
Jesus said in John 8:35, “A slave (worker) is not a permanent member of the family, but a son is part of the family forever.”
You are a son or daughter to God when you have a relationship with Him. If not, you are a mere slave working hard, and you may think He knows you, but He might not even be aware of you.
