Why You Should Read Your Bible Daily

Deuteronomy 8:3, Acts 17:28, Psalm 119:105

The Word of God is not just a book—it is a living, breathing gift from God, sent into your life to guide, strengthen, correct, and bless you. Every time you open the Bible, God speaks to you through His Word.

God’s Word is a Daily Necessity

Deuteronomy 8:3 reminds us:
“Man does not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of the Lord.”

Just as your body needs food to survive, your spirit needs the Word of God to thrive. The Bible is your spiritual manna, given by God to sustain and empower you.

Come with Humility and Hunger

“The Word of God is spoken to each of you every time. One word may speak today, another may speak tomorrow, but God has sent His Word into your life.”TB Joshua

It’s easy to think, “I’ve already read this chapter before,” but remember: God’s Word is alive and fresh every day.

The Bible speaks differently to you depending on where you are in your spiritual journey. What blessed you last year may not be what you need today. That’s why it’s important to:

  1. Come with a Clean Slate: Approach God’s Word without preconceived ideas.

  2. Come with Openness: Let God show you new things you’ve never seen before.

  3. Come with Hunger: Desire the Word as if your life depends on it—because it does.

The Role of Humility in Bible Reading

Humility is essential when approaching the Word of God. It is through humility that we:

  • Submit to the Holy Spirit’s Guidance: Allow Him to open your heart and reveal truths you’ve never understood before.

  • Acknowledge Our Dependence on God: We are nothing without Him. As Acts 17:28 says, “In Him I live, in Him I move, in Him I have my being.”

To receive from the Word, you must set aside pride, distractions, and assumptions. Come like a child—ready to listen, learn, and be transformed.

The Word is Always Speaking

You may have read the books of Mark, James, or Peter before, but each time you read them, God has something new to say.

Just as manna was provided fresh every day for the Israelites in the wilderness, so too is the Word of God fresh every day. You cannot rely on yesterday’s understanding; you must seek Him daily.

Why Read the Bible Daily?

  1. It Feeds Your Spirit
Just as food sustains your body, the Word of God sustains your spirit.

  2. It Guides You
Psalm 119:105 says, “Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” Reading the Bible daily gives you direction and clarity for your life.

  3. It Strengthens Your Faith
Romans 10:17 reminds us, “Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.” Daily reading builds your faith and equips you to face challenges.

  4. It Brings Fresh Revelation
Every time you read the Word, God can show you something new and relevant to your current situation.

  5. It Keeps You Connected to God
Acts 17:28 says, “In Him I live, in Him I move, in Him I have my being.” The Word keeps you grounded in Him and aligned with His will.

How to Approach Bible Reading

  1. Start with Prayer: Ask the Holy Spirit to guide you and reveal His truth to you.

  2. Read with Expectation: Believe that God has something to say to you today.

  3. Meditate on What You Read: Take time to reflect on how the Word applies to your life.

  4. Apply What You Learn: The Word is not just for knowledge—it’s for transformation.

Prayer

🙏 Father, I humble myself before You today. Give me the hunger and desire to seek Your Word daily. Teach me to approach the Bible with humility and openness, and guide me by Your Holy Spirit. Let Your Word transform my heart and shape my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
