This is a profound question that many of us ponder at some point in our lives. Prophet T.B. Joshua shared deep revelations about the afterlife, providing us with insight into what happens after death for both the righteous and the wicked.
Where Do True Christians Go After Death?
1️⃣ Paradise: The Destination for Righteous Men and Women
True Christians who have lived a righteous life and are in right standing with God immediately open their eyes in Paradise upon physical death.
This transition happens in less than a second—there is no lingering or delay for the righteous.
Luke 23:43: “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.” (Jesus to the thief on the cross)
2️⃣ Paradise Is a Place of Peace and Joy
In Paradise, the righteous live freely and enjoy God’s abundant provision. There is no sickness, no suffering, no lack, and no pain.
They share all things freely, live in harmony, and are sustained by God’s eternal peace and love.
3️⃣ The Righteous in Paradise Can Observe the Earth
Prophet TB Joshua described Paradise as a place where Christians can look down upon the Earth much like seeing through a transparent glass floor.
They can observe the lives of their loved ones still on Earth and, in some cases, even watch over them spiritually.
4️⃣ A Temporary Home Until Judgment Day
Christians in Paradise will remain there until the Day of Judgment when they will receive their eternal reward.
At the appointed time, they will enter Heaven to live with God forever.
Revelation 21:3-4: “God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and He will dwell with them. They will be His people, and God Himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes.”
Where Do the Wicked and Sinners Go After Death?
1️⃣ Hades: The Prison for the Dead
After death, the wicked and unrepentant sinners are sent to Hades, a temporary place of torment.
Hades is NOT the final destination for the wicked—it is a holding place until Judgment Day.
Unlike Paradise, Hades is a place of agony, regret, and torment.
Those in Hades are separated from God’s presence and live in despair, awaiting their final judgment.
Luke 16:19–31:
- The story of the rich man and Lazarus clearly illustrates this truth. While Lazarus was carried to Abraham’s bosom (Paradise), the rich man found himself in torment in Hades, begging for even a drop of water to cool his tongue.
2️⃣ Eternal Punishment in Hell
On Judgment Day, the wicked will be sentenced to Hell, the lake of fire, for eternal punishment alongside Satan and his fallen angels.
Revelation 20:12-15: “Anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire.”
Key Scriptures About the Afterlife
Luke 23:43: Jesus assured the repentant thief on the cross that he would be in Paradise that very day.
Luke 16:19-31: The rich man and Lazarus offer a clear picture of the afterlife for both the righteous and the wicked.
Revelation 20:11-15: The final judgment where death, Hades, and all whose names are not in the Book of Life are cast into the lake of fire.
John 14:2-3: Jesus promises to prepare a place for those who love Him in His Father’s house.

- Spend time in prayer, meditation, and obedience to God’s commands. Remember, salvation is personal—no one can secure it for you but yourself.
3️⃣ Focus on Winning Souls for Christ
- As Christians, it is our duty to spread the Gospel and lead others to salvation, ensuring that more souls are added to God’s Kingdom.
4️⃣ Prepare for Your Eternal Home
Prophet TB Joshua said, “A time to come here and a time to return home after service.”
Let us live each day as though it’s our last, always ready to meet the Lord.
