Figure 1: How Unknowing Sins Open the Backdoor to the Enemy? - SpiritWorshipGen

⚠️ Are You Inviting the Devil Without Knowing It?

“My people perish for lack of knowledge…” — Hosea 4:6

“Do not give the devil a foothold.” — Ephesians 4:27

Have you ever ended a day feeling proud that you resisted temptation, fasted, and prayed—yet found yourself struggling with fear, nightmares, or unexplained heaviness?

You ask:

“I read my Bible, I prayed, I even fasted—why did I still have this nightmare or spiritual attack?”
“Why do I feel spiritually defeated even when I tried my best?”

This is where unknowing sin and familiar spirits come into play.

❗ What Is Unknowing Sin?

Unknowing sin refers to actions, thoughts, and words that grieve the Holy Spirit—without us realizing it. They are subtle breaches of God’s Word. Spiritual backdoors left ajar.

“The greatest obstacle to the Holy Spirit is sin—whether known or unknown.”
Prophet T.B. Joshua

😈 How Familiar Spirits Exploit Unknowing Sin

Familiar spirits are demonic entities that monitor our patterns, emotions, and spiritual weaknesses. Their mission is to exploit subtle compromises to gain access. The truth is, Satan operates in subtlety. Just as a spy doesn’t announce his presence, familiar spirits are demonic monitors:

They

  • watch, listen, and wait to exploit spiritual carelessness,

  • monitor your speech,

  • track your weaknesses.

  • report your activities in the spiritual realm

  • disrupt your destiny by creating distractions at key moments

  • These spirits need legal ground—and unknowing sin gives them exactly that.

“A weakness is a key that opens the door to uninvited guests.” — Sammy Egot

They thrive on unguarded moments, hidden weaknesses, and sins committed without awareness.

🔓 Examples of How We Invite the Devil Unknowingly

👀 1. Entertainment That Defiles Your Spirit

Watching shows, images, or listening to music that stirs lust or anger gives demons the legal right to attack your spiritual life.

“Anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.” — Matthew 5:28

It’s not the act—it’s the glance, the lingering thought, the “harmless” scene. Every unguarded gaze is an entry point.

That “look” may seem harmless, but spiritually, it’s pollution.

“The mind is the battlefield. If satan wins the battle in your mind, he will win your soul.”
T.B. Joshua

🗣️ 2. Listening to Gossip Without Speaking a Word

“Avoid all perverse talk; stay away from corrupt speech.” — Proverbs 4:24

Even silent agreement with gossip opens the door. The Holy Spirit is grieved in toxic atmospheres.

You don’t have to say anything—just being present and entertained by it grieves the Holy Spirit.

The scripture didn’t say indulge, withstand, or endure. It says to leave the place because if you stay, your guardian angel and the Holy Spirit will not stay there with you. This is one of the things that grieve the Holy Spirit. He wants to go where He is desired only. He wants to be Himself in you, and your duty is to reverence His presence in your actions and decisions.

“The Holy Spirit wants to be Himself in you. But He cannot be Himself in a heart full of bitterness, gossip, or pride.”
T.B. Joshua

📱 3. When Good Plans Mysteriously Fail

Planning to fast or pray—but get interrupted? Familiar spirits are eavesdropping on your intentions and using distraction as a weapon.

Ever wondered how sometimes you discuss your good plans, but they never materialise because these familiar spirits hear and see them and immediately create distractions that weaken you from carrying out those plans? Suddenly, a friend will give you an irresistible last VIP ticket to an event, which will further weaken you spiritually. Perhaps you wanted to fast or study the scriptures, and then a phone call comes in from your ex, talking about how much they miss you. Immediately, something in you wants to meet that person face to face, and before you know it, you are both naked. Then you realise it was not love—you were driven by the desires of your flesh.

“Familiar spirits are always looking for agreement with your weakness. Any open door gives them a legal right to operate.”

This is often not about love, but about the desires of the flesh being reactivated.

📖 “So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.” — Galatians 5:16

📞 4. Sharing Good Plans Too Soon

Ever share a miracle or idea, and it collapses? Some defeats come not from your enemies, but from spiritual sabotage triggered by early disclosure.

“The more people know your plans, the more voices will fight it. Wait until the miracle matures before you announce it.”
T.B. Joshua

5. Spiritual Laziness

When you say, “I will pray later,” and scroll endlessly instead, you’ve placed your soul on pause and opened a window for temptation.

📖 “A little sleep, a little slumber… and poverty will come upon you like a robber.” — Proverbs 24:33–34

😟 Why Do Bad Things Still Happen After Doing Everything Right?

Even when we’re spiritually disciplined, small cracks remain:

  • Hidden envy
  • Resentment
  • Impure thoughts
  • Lazy devotion
  • Overexposure to secular media

These are “the little foxes that spoil the vine” — Song of Solomon 2:15

🕊️ How to Close These Open Doors and Guard Against Unknowing Sin

1. Daily Self-Examination

“Search me, O God, and know my heart…”Psalm 139:23
Ask the Holy Spirit to expose what you cannot see.

2. Immediate Repentance

Don’t wait. Repent the moment you feel convicted.
> “Holy Spirit, take more of me and give me more of You.” — T.B. Joshua

3. Guard What You Entertain

Be ruthless with your spiritual diet—what you watch, hear, and dwell on.

4. Sanctify Your Thoughts

Spend time in the Word. Let God’s truth cleanse your inner man.

“Faith comes when the Word prevails over the mind.” — T.B. Joshua

5. Flee, Don’t Flirt With Sinful Environments

Flee Every corrupt atmosphere, that’s what the scripture says.

“Resist the devil and he will flee from you.”James 4:7

Sometimes resistance means leaving the room, the app, or the conversation.

🙏 A Prayer for Cleansing and Protection

“Holy Spirit, forgive my unknowing sins. Search my heart and reveal every hidden weakness. Close every spiritual door I’ve left open—knowingly or unknowingly. Take more of me and give me more of You. I surrender my spirit, soul, and body to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

✍️ Final Words

The devil doesn’t need a door—just a crack.
Your distractions, your carelessness, your blind spots—they are all cracks.

“Satan keeps no permanent friends; only permanent victims.”TB Joshua

But the Holy Spirit is ready to seal them if you surrender fully.

Your greatest danger is not always the sin you see—it’s the one you tolerate unknowingly.

Don’t just avoid sin knowingly—start praying against sin unknowingly.
Be vigilant. Watch your atmosphere. Guard your spiritual gates.

You are a spiritual being—protect your spirit.

🙏 Prayer:

Holy Spirit, reveal to me the things that offend You.
Help me close every open door in my life.
I repent for unknowing sins and ask You to fill me afresh.
Take more of me and give me more of You. Amen.
