Who do people Say I am
Loaned from Heaven
Matthew 16:13, John 20:29, Joshua 24:15, John 14:15–16, Luke 12:8-9
Matthew 16:13: “Who do people say that the Son of Man is?”
John 20:29: “You believe because you have seen me. Blessed are those who believe without seeing me.”
Joshua 24:15: “As for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.”
John 14:15–16: “If you love me, keep my commands. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever—the Spirit of truth.”
Luke 12:8-9: “I tell you, whoever publicly acknowledges me before others, the Son of Man will also acknowledge before the angels of God. But whoever disowns me before others will be disowned before the angels of God.”
Who Do You Say Jesus Is?
When Jesus asked His disciples in Matthew 16:13, “Who do people say that the Son of Man is?”, it was not just to gather opinions. It was to test their understanding of His divine nature and mission.
Despite walking with Jesus, not every disciple truly grasped who He was. Some saw Him as a great teacher or prophet, but not everyone recognized Him as the Son of the Living God.
Key Reflection:
Jesus cared deeply about His legacy and wanted to ensure that His disciples understood His identity. Their understanding would determine their commitment to Him and their role in spreading the gospel.
Believing Without Seeing
John 20:29 reminds us of Jesus’ words to Thomas:
“You believe because you have seen me. Blessed are those who believe without seeing me.”
This highlights an important truth about faith:
Faith is not dependent on physical evidence or human reasoning.
True faith acknowledges God’s divine nature and His works, even when they are not physically visible.
Today, Jesus still manifests Himself in ways that may seem unconventional to the natural mind. By His divine will, He reveals Himself through:
Prophets and servants like T.B. Joshua.
The poor, the sick, or those in need.
Nature: a burning bush, a cloud, or fire (as seen in the Old Testament).
Jesus Lives in Us Through His Holy Spirit
Jesus never truly left us. He promised in John 14:15–16:
“If you love me, keep my commands. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever—the Spirit of truth.”
The Holy Spirit is the evidence of Jesus’ continual presence among us. Through the Spirit, we:
Experience His guidance and peace.
See His work through His chosen servants.
Carry His light into the world.
Prophet T.B. Joshua: Loaned from Heaven
As for me and my household, we firmly declare:
“As for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.” (Joshua 24:15)
We acknowledge Prophet T.B. Joshua as a servant of God, loaned to us from heaven to fulfill a divine assignment.
💭 Why do we believe this?
We have witnessed his life and works firsthand.
Through him, we have seen the love, humility, and divine power of Jesus Christ in action.
His ministry was marked by healing, deliverance, and teaching that glorified Jesus Christ, not himself.
My Divine Assignment
As someone privileged to witness the life and ministry of Prophet T.B. Joshua, my divine calling is to:
Write about the Jesus Christ revealed in his life.
Share his legacy, not just with the present generation, but with generations yet unborn.
Acknowledging God’s Servants
Luke 12:8-9 warns us about the importance of publicly acknowledging Jesus and His works through His chosen vessels:
“Whoever publicly acknowledges me before others, the Son of Man will also acknowledge before the angels of God.”
Rejecting or doubting God’s chosen servants is ultimately a rejection of the One who sent them.
Key Takeaways for Today
1️⃣ Who Do You Say Jesus Is?
- Make it personal. Jesus’ question to His disciples is the same for us today. Who is Jesus to you?
2️⃣ Faith Without Sight
- Faith is not about seeing—it’s about believing in the evidence of His presence through His Word, His Spirit, and His works.
3️⃣ Recognize God’s Servants
- Be discerning and prayerful about those whom God has chosen to reflect His light in the world.
4️⃣ Leave a Legacy of Faith
- Just as the disciples carried forward the legacy of Jesus Christ, we are called to share His truth and love with future generations.
Final Encouragement
Jesus Christ is still with us, revealing Himself through His Word, His Spirit, and His servants. Like the disciples, we are called to truly know who He is, to live out His legacy, and to leave a testimony of faith for future generations.
Prayer
🙏 Lord Jesus, I thank You for the gift of faith. Help me to believe in You even when I cannot see. Open my heart to recognize Your presence and Your works through the Holy Spirit and Your chosen servants. May I be bold in declaring who You are and sharing Your legacy with others. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
