Stop Looking at where you are coming from?
Stop Looking at where you are coming from; focus on your goal
Key Scripture References:
Luke 2:7: “She gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them.”
Matthew 1:18-19: “This is how the birth of Jesus the Messiah came about: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be pregnant through the Holy Spirit. Because Joseph her husband was faithful to the law, and yet did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly.”
John 14:1-3: “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.”
Your Circumstances of Birth Don’t Define Your Destiny
Many times, we allow our beginnings to determine the course of our lives. Perhaps you were born into poverty, faced rejection, or struggled with stigmas and stereotypes. But remember, your starting point does not determine your finishing point.
Consider Jesus:
- Born in a Stable: His first breath was taken in a lowly manger. The King of Kings could have let this humble beginning shape His identity, but He didn’t. Instead, He rose above His circumstances because He knew His divine purpose.
Stigma Didn’t Stop Jesus
Some of us carry the weight of rejection or negative labels. Maybe you’ve been mocked, called names, or treated unfairly. But consider this:
Jesus was born with a stigma attached to His birth. People whispered about Mary’s pregnancy, questioning its legitimacy.
Despite this, Jesus never allowed the opinions of others to derail His mission.
Lesson: Your worth is not determined by what others say about you but by what God says about you. Keep your eyes on His promises!
Focus on Your Goal, Not Your Past
1️⃣ Believe in What God Has Deposited in You
Like Jesus, believe in your product. You have something unique to offer this world.
Jesus knew He carried the solution the world needed. He endured hardships and rejection because He had a sense of destiny.
2️⃣ Don’t Look Back
Stop focusing on where you’re coming from—the mistakes, failures, or limitations of your past. Instead, look ahead to your goal.
Philippians 3:13-14: “Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”
3️⃣ Endure the Process
Jesus endured every step of His journey because He trusted in God’s plan.
Hebrews 12:2: “For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”
All of Heaven Awaits You
Don’t be discouraged by your current challenges. Remember, Jesus has gone ahead to prepare a place for you.
John 14:1-3 assures us of our heavenly goal: “In my Father’s house are many rooms… I am going there to prepare a place for you.”
When you focus on your heavenly destination, the distractions and difficulties of this world lose their power.
Prayer
🙏 Lord Jesus, help me to stop looking at where I’m coming from and to focus on where You are taking me. Teach me to trust Your process and keep my eyes fixed on my heavenly goal. No matter what the world says or does, I believe in the destiny You’ve placed in my heart. Thank You for preparing a place for me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
