Child of God, Where Does the Lord Meet With You?
Child of God, Where Does the Lord Meet With You?
Key Scriptures:
Numbers 17:4: “Place these staffs in the Tabernacle in front of the Ark containing the tablets of the Covenant, where I meet with you.”
Exodus 25:22: “And there I will meet with you, and I will speak with you from above the mercy seat.”
Daniel 6:10: “He went home and knelt down as usual in his upstairs room, with its windows open toward Jerusalem. He prayed three times a day, just as he had always done, giving thanks to his God.”
Luke 5:16: “But Jesus often withdrew to the wilderness for prayer.”
What Do These Verses Have in Common?
🌱 These Scriptures show us that God’s servants—whether in the Old Testament, the New Testament, or Jesus Himself—had dedicated places and habits of meeting with God.
The Tabernacle (Numbers 17:4 & Exodus 25:22): God instructed Moses and the priests to meet with Him at a specific place, the Ark of the Covenant, where His presence dwelled.
Daniel (Daniel 6:10): Despite threats to his life, Daniel had a habit of meeting with God in his upstairs room, praying three times daily.
Jesus (Luke 5:16): Even the Son of God often withdrew to a quiet place to commune with His Father.
Takeaway: Each of these examples shows us the importance of having a designated place, time, and heart posture to meet with God regularly.
What Does This Mean for You?
👉 Christianity is About a Relationship with God
Christianity is not just about attending church or religious activities. It is about cultivating a personal, intimate relationship with God. This relationship thrives on daily, intentional appointments with Him.
👉 Christianity Lies in the Heart
God is not impressed by outward rituals or routines that lack sincerity. He looks at the heart. When you seek Him, do it with a genuine desire to know Him, love Him, and hear His voice.
- 1 Samuel 16:7: “The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
Are You Too Busy for God?
In today’s fast-paced world, it’s easy to get caught up in work, family, and responsibilities, leaving little or no time for God. But remember, you are a child of God, and this world is not your home.
- Philippians 3:20 reminds us: “But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ.”
Reflection Question:
Are you making time for the One who gave you life? Or have earthly distractions taken priority over your eternal relationship with God?
God Desires to Meet With You
God is a Father of relationships. He longs to have one-on-one time with you every day.
He wants to speak to your heart, reveal His plans, and involve you in His divine projects.
But many times, we are not available to meet with Him.
We’re too busy, too distracted, or too tired.
Yet God continues to wait for us, patiently longing for our time and attention.
How to Create a Daily Appointment With God
1️⃣ Set a Specific Time and Place
Choose a quiet, consistent time every day when you can meet with God without distractions.
This could be early in the morning, during lunch, or before bed.
2️⃣ Make It a Habit
- Just like Daniel prayed three times daily, develop a consistent habit of meeting with God.
3️⃣ Prioritize Scripture and Prayer
Spend time reading and meditating on the Word of God.
Pray sincerely, pouring out your heart to God and listening for His voice.
4️⃣ Eliminate Distractions
- Turn off your phone, TV, and other distractions during your time with God.
5️⃣ Seek Him with a Hungry Heart
- Approach God with humility and a genuine desire to know Him more.
Prayer
🙏 Heavenly Father, thank You for always desiring to meet with me. Forgive me for the times I have neglected our relationship. I surrender my heart to You today and commit to spending time in Your presence daily. Teach me to hear Your voice, to rest in Your peace, and to walk in obedience to Your Word. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Final Encouragement
Child of God, don’t wait until your life becomes too chaotic to seek Him. Make time for your Heavenly Father now. He is waiting to meet with you, to speak to your heart, and to guide you in every step of your journey.
Like Daniel, Moses, and Jesus, cultivate the habit of meeting with God daily in a secret place. It will transform your life, align your priorities, and draw you closer to Him.
