Deep Truths About the Holy Spirit

Insights from Prophet T.B. Joshua

John 7:38-39, Matthew 10:20, Acts 19:2, John 15:7, Ephesians 4:30, Ephesians 5:19-20, Colossians 3:16, Acts 16:6-10, Romans 8:12–14, Galatians 5:16–18

💭 Who is the Holy Spirit?

The Holy Spirit is God. He is the third person in the Godhead:
God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

  • The Holy Spirit is the One called alongside to help (the Paraclete).

  • He is the river of living water (John 7:38–39).

  • He is the Comforter and the Spirit of the Father (Matthew 10:20).

💭 How Can One Be Filled with the Holy Spirit?

(Acts 19:2, John 15:7)
To be filled with the Holy Spirit:

  • Be grounded in the Word: The Holy Spirit works through the Word of God. If there is no Word in your heart, He will have nothing to remind you of or work with.

  • Have a sound heart: A free, pure, and forgiving heart is essential. Without this, the Holy Spirit cannot dwell in you.

💭 Why Does the Holy Spirit Not Stay in Many Christians?

(Ephesians 4:30)
The Holy Spirit does not stay in many Christians because:

  1. Disobedience to the Scriptures: When we fail to obey God’s Word, we quench the Holy Spirit’s fire.

  2. Offenses and Grudges: Holding grudges or keeping offenses grieves the Holy Spirit. He cannot operate where there is bitterness or an unforgiving spirit.

  3. He Wants to Be Himself in Us: The Holy Spirit needs us to have a free and surrendered spirit to allow Him to express His divine nature in us.

💭 How Do I Prepare to Receive the Holy Spirit?

(Acts 2:1–4)

  1. Meditation is Key:
Meditation prepares the heart for the Holy Spirit to take residence. We must take hold of our hearts and present them to God in their best condition.

  2. Be in Unity with Others:
Just as the disciples were together in one accord at Pentecost, unity with others in faith is essential.

💭 How Do I Meditate on the Word?

(Colossians 3:16, Ephesians 5:19–20)
Meditation is the foundation of a Spirit-filled life. Here’s how:

  1. Speak to Yourself in Psalms, Hymns, and Spiritual Songs:
Make melodies in your heart to God. Sing or speak the Scriptures aloud, allowing the Word to resonate deeply within you.

  2. Use Anointed Words for Meditation:
Prophet T.B. Joshua shared these anointed words for meditation:
“Take more of me, give me more of You, Lord.”
This simple yet powerful prayer invites the Holy Spirit to take control of your heart and life.

💭 What is the Difference Between Being Baptized in the Holy Spirit and Being Filled with the Holy Spirit?

(Acts 16:6–10)

  1. Baptized in the Holy Spirit:

    • Baptism in the Holy Spirit signifies total submission to the Spirit.

    • The Holy Spirit has total dominion over your spirit. You cannot live by your own will; the Spirit guides you completely.

  2. Filled with the Holy Spirit:

    • All who are baptized in the Holy Spirit are filled with the Spirit.

    • However, you can be filled with the Holy Spirit without being fully baptized in Him.

💭 Is It Possible to Obey the Written Word Without Being Filled with the Holy Spirit?

No, it is not possible. Without the Holy Spirit, human nature cannot truly obey God’s Word.
Romans 8:12–14, Galatians 5:16–18 teach us that:

  • Those who are filled with the Holy Spirit are led by Him in every decision.

  • The Holy Spirit empowers us to live in obedience to God, enabling us to walk in the Spirit and not in the flesh.

Final Reflection:

The Holy Spirit is our Helper, Guide, and Comforter. To live a Spirit-filled life, we must:

  • Immerse ourselves in God’s Word,

  • Keep our hearts pure,

  • Practice meditation, and

  • Allow the Holy Spirit to take full control.

Prayer

“Take more of me, Lord, and give me more of You. Fill me with Your Spirit and lead me in Your truth all the days of my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen!”
