The Habits of God’s Generals

Lessons from Prophet T.B. Joshua and the Scriptures

Ephesians 6:18, Philippians 4:13, Hebrews 11:1, Ecclesiastes 7:14

The Holy Spirit in the Lives of God’s Generals

God’s Generals—both in the Bible and in our time—share remarkable similarities in their character, divine revelations, and faith-filled lifestyles. The Holy Spirit does as He wills, yet we can identify great men and women of God by their consistency in teaching, their humility, their faith, and their lifestyle of righteousness in Christ.

Today, we reflect on the habits of Prophet T.B. Joshua, which align with the lives of biblical figures such as Daniel, Apostle Paul, and others. These examples remind us that God’s character is reflected through His faithful servants across generations.

ON HUMILITY

God’s Generals depend on God and never share His glory.
Prophet T.B. Joshua says:
“I am not the Healer, but I know the Healer. His name is Jesus Christ.”

Similarly, in Daniel 2:30, Daniel declared:
“It’s not because I’m wiser than anyone else that I know the secret of your dream, but I know the revealer of all secrets.”

Key Lesson: True servants of God remain humble, always giving glory to God, not to themselves.

ON GOD’S RIGHTEOUSNESS

They boast only in God’s righteousness and ability.
T.B. Joshua says:
“I’m your brother. If there’s anything I’m doing that you cannot do, it’s because of the righteousness of God in me.”

Similarly, Apostle Paul said in Philippians 4:13:
“For I can do everything through Christ who gives me strength.”

Key Lesson: God’s servants know that all they accomplish is through His righteousness, not their own.

ON FAITH

They live a life of faith, bringing God’s promises into reality.
T.B. Joshua says:
“Faith is expecting God to do what He promised to do.”

Similarly, Apostle Paul wrote in Hebrews 11:1:
“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”

Key Lesson: Faith is the foundation of their lives—it is the bridge between God’s promises and their manifestation.

ON BELIEF IN THE HEART AND MOUTH CONFESSION

They understand the power of belief in the heart and confession with the mouth.
T.B. Joshua says:
“There is power in my mouth. The belief in my heart is released by faith out of my mouth.”

Apostle Paul affirmed this in Romans 10:10:
“For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved.”

Key Lesson: What we meditate on in our hearts and confess with our mouths activates God’s power and salvation in our lives.

ON GIVING

They demonstrate Christ’s love by giving generously.
T.B. Joshua says:
“The beauty of life does not depend on how happy we are, but rather on how happy others can be because of us.”

Apostle John emphasized this in 1 John 3:17:
“If someone has enough money to live well and sees a brother or sister in need but shows no compassion, how can God’s love be in that person?”

Key Lesson: God’s Generals reflect God’s love by giving selflessly to others, regardless of their faith or background.

ON UNCOMPROMISING FAITH IN GOD

They trust God, no matter the outcome.
T.B. Joshua says:
“Whether You heal me or not, You are my Healer; whether You save me or not, You are my Savior; whether You deliver me or not, You are my Deliverer.”

In Daniel 3:17–18, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego said:
“If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to save us. But even if He does not, we will never serve your gods…”

Key Lesson: Their faith in God is unwavering, even when His answer is not what they expect.

ON GOOD AND HARD TIMES

They understand that both good and hard times are part of walking with God.
T.B. Joshua says:
“As a child of God, in our spiritual walk with God, there will be both good and hard times alike. It is for the glory of God.”

Wiseman Solomon wrote in Ecclesiastes 7:14:
“Enjoy prosperity while you can, but when hard times strike, realize that both come from God.”

Key Lesson: God’s Generals embrace both joy and trials, knowing that God uses everything for His glory.

ON MEDITATION AND CONSTANCY OF PRAYER

They emphasize prayer and meditation as vital tools for a strong relationship with God.
T.B. Joshua says:
“Meditation is a visit to God. A break in faith is a break with God. A break in prayer is a break in faith. Constantly pray in your heart without ceasing in hymns, psalms, spiritual songs, and make melodies in your heart.”

Apostle Paul in Ephesians 6:18 says:
“Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.”

Key Lesson: God’s Generals prioritize constant communication with God through prayer and meditation, keeping their hearts connected to Him at all times.

Final Words of Encouragement

God’s Generals live lives marked by humility, faith, generosity, and prayer. These qualities are not just for a select few—they are for all believers who are willing to follow God wholeheartedly.

As you emulate these habits, remember:

  • Stay humble, and depend on God in all things.

  • Live a life of faith, confessing His promises daily.

  • Give generously, love unconditionally, and pray without ceasing.

Prayer

“Lord Jesus, help me to develop the habits of faith, humility, and generosity that glorify You. Teach me to live a life of unwavering trust in Your promises and constant fellowship with Your Spirit. May my life reflect Your love and glory, just as Your faithful servants have done. Amen.”
