If Faith Is Expecting God to Do What He Promised, What’s Your Own Role?
If Faith Is Expecting God to Do What He Promised, What’s Your Own Role?
Mark 5:26-27, Hebrews 11:1, James 2:17
What Is Faith?
Faith is expecting God to do what He has promised. It is not just a feeling or wishful thinking—it is confidence in God’s Word and His ability to fulfill it.
Hebrews 11:1:
“Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.”
But faith requires action. You have a role to play in partnering with God to see His promises come to pass in your life.
Your Role in Faith: Believe, See, Feel, and Act
Believe the Promise
The first step in faith is to believe what God has said.
Romans 10:17:
“Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.”Like the woman with the issue of blood in Mark 5:26-27, she heard about Jesus and believed in His power to heal.
See It in Your Spirit
Faith involves visualizing the promise as if it has already happened.
The woman with the issue of blood saw the beginning, middle, and end of her miracle in her mind:
- “If I touch the hem of His garment, I will be healed.”
Feel It in Your Heart
Faith is not just an intellectual exercise; it is a heartfelt conviction.
The woman made a decision in her heart to act on what she believed:
- “If I can just touch Him…”
Act on It
Faith is only complete when it is acted upon. James 2:17:
“Faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.”The woman did not just stay in her house believing; she pressed through the crowd to touch Jesus.
Faith Follows a Process
The story of the woman with the issue of blood demonstrates that faith follows a process:
Conviction: She heard about Jesus and was convinced of His power.
Decision: She decided in her heart to take action.
Real Movement: She pressed through the crowd to touch Jesus.
Result: She received her healing.
Faith is not static—it is dynamic. It moves, grows, and produces results when you act on it.
Stop Doubting and Start Acting
Many times, we hinder our own miracles because of doubt. Doubt paralyzes faith, while action activates it.
What Happens When You Doubt?
- James 1:6-7:
“But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord.”
What Happens When You Act in Faith?
When you act in faith, you release your belief into the physical realm.
As Prophet T.B. Joshua said:
“There is power in my mouth; the belief in my heart is released by faith out of my mouth.”
Practical Steps to Activate Your Faith
Speak It
Use your mouth to confess God’s promises over your life.
Proverbs 18:21:
“The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.”
Visualize It
Close your eyes and imagine the promise of God fulfilled in your life.
See yourself healed, blessed, or restored.
Feel It in Your Spirit
- Let God’s promise stir your heart. Develop a conviction that what He has promised will come to pass.
Take Action
Don’t wait for everything to align perfectly before you act. Faith moves even when circumstances look impossible.
The woman with the issue of blood didn’t wait for the crowd to disappear; she pressed through.
Thank God in Advance
Express gratitude to God for fulfilling His promise, even before you see it physically.
Philippians 4:6:
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”
A Prayer to Strengthen Your Faith
“Lord Jesus, thank You for being faithful to Your promises. Help me to believe in Your Word, see it in my spirit, and act on it with boldness. I reject doubt and fear, and I choose to walk by faith and not by sight. Teach me to trust in Your timing and to rely on Your strength as I take steps of faith. May my belief be released into action, and may my faith produce results for Your glory. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
Final Encouragement
Faith is more than expectation; it is a process that involves believing, seeing, feeling, and acting.
Your belief is dormant until you act on it.
Faith is the vehicle through which belief is released into the physical realm.
Take the woman with the issue of blood as your example. Her faith didn’t stop at conviction; it translated into action, which brought about her miracle.
Declaration
“I will stop doubting and start acting in faith. I believe in God’s promises, and I will act on them boldly. There is power in my mouth, and my faith will release the belief in my heart. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
