Why Are You Always in a Hurry With God?
Why Are You Always in a Hurry With God?
Isaiah 40:31, Ecclesiastes 3:11, Psalm 27:14
God’s Timing Is Perfect
As human beings, we are often impatient with God, wanting answers immediately and expecting Him to work on our schedule. But the truth is, God’s timing is perfect, and His responses are not for those in a hurry.
Ecclesiastes 3:11:
“He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.”
Why Do We Hurry With God?
Impatience With Delays
We live in a fast-paced world, and waiting can feel unbearable. But God’s process requires patience.
Psalm 27:14:
“Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.”
Doubt in God’s Goodness
One of Satan’s tactics is to make you doubt God’s goodness and provision. He tries to shift your focus to what you don’t have, causing you to lose confidence in God’s promises.
Genesis 3:1: “Did God really say…?” (The serpent’s tactic to create doubt.)
Comparison With Others
Looking at others’ lives and their blessings can make us anxious, thinking God has forgotten us. But your situation is not like others’; it is unique and designed for God’s glory.
John 9:3:
“This happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him.”
The Danger of Rushing God
Slipping Into Unhealthy Doubts:
Spending too much time focusing on what you lack can lead to doubts about God’s plan for your life.- Matthew 6:31-33:
“So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”
- Matthew 6:31-33:
Missing the Bigger Picture:
When we rush God, we miss the lessons He wants to teach us through the waiting process. God’s delays are not denials; they are opportunities to grow in faith and trust.
What Should We Do Instead?
1. Be Patient and Trust God’s Timing
God’s schedule is always the best. Waiting allows God’s purpose to unfold perfectly.
Isaiah 40:31:
“But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.”
2. Remember God’s Track Record
Reflect on the ways God has come through for you in the past. His faithfulness in the past assures you of His faithfulness in the present and future.
Lamentations 3:22-23:
“Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.”
3. Focus on Gratitude, Not Lack
When you focus on what you have, rather than what you don’t, you are reminded of God’s goodness and provision. Gratitude strengthens faith.
1 Thessalonians 5:18:
“Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
4. Trust That Your Situation Is for God’s Glory
Your current challenge is not pointless. God is using it to glorify Himself and to grow your faith.
Romans 8:28:
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.”
Practical Steps to Cultivate Patience
Pray for Patience
- Ask God to give you the grace to wait for His timing without frustration. Psalm 37:7
Meditate on God’s Promises
- Fill your heart with Scripture that reminds you of God’s faithfulness.Psalm.33:4, Lamentations 3:22-23
Praise While You Wait
- Worship God for who He is, not just for what He gives. Praise strengthens your trust in Him. 1 Thessalonians 5:16–18, Psalm 34:1
Serve Others
- While waiting, focus on serving others. It takes the focus off your situation and allows God to work behind the scenes. 1 Peter 4:10, 1Corinthians 15:58
A Prayer for Patience
“Lord Jesus, forgive me for the times I have been impatient with Your timing. Help me to trust You fully, even when I don’t understand what You are doing. Teach me to wait with gratitude, faith, and expectation, knowing that You make everything beautiful in its time. Strengthen my heart to focus on Your goodness and to believe that my situation is for Your glory. I surrender my plans to Your perfect will and timing. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
Final Encouragement
God’s response is not for those in a hurry. Trust Him to answer on His schedule, not yours.
Remember, waiting is not wasting. It is God’s way of preparing you for the blessings He has in store.
Reflect on His faithfulness, focus on gratitude, and let your waiting period strengthen your faith.
Declaration
“I will not rush God. I trust His timing and His plan for my life. I will wait patiently, knowing that He is working all things together for my good and His glory. I choose gratitude over doubt and faith over fear. My God is faithful, and I will trust Him every step of the way. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
